It is working for 'YOUR GOOD'!

So many times, in the face of difficulties, disappointments and trials, we are quick to respond either by complaining, crying or feeling frustrated. We feel frustrated mainly because we had planned it out, executed the plan and all we now want is the positive outcome we hoped for.  However, Christians are encouraged to stay positive and be hopeful at all times; even in the face of adversity. Although this is not as easy as it sounds and does not even make sense asking someone to have a cheerful countenance in the face of disappointment, you know what? That’s exactly the attitude God expects from us.

In our walks with God, it is important that we strive to develop our faith, through the studying of the Bible so as to equip ourselves with all we need to make our life journey less stressful. Through experience, I can confidently say that studying God’s word is a vital key to boosting one’s faith in God. Studying God's word is vital for one’s Christian growth and development, as “Faith comes by hearing the word of God” (Romans 10:17). Also, it is important that we nurture our faith towards always having a positive mind set irrespective of what we see, feel or hear. That kind of faith that will allow us to see the  ‘GOOD’ even in a ‘MESSY' situation.

Just the other day, my pair of glasses accidentally fell behind a radiator. As soon as I noticed that they had gotten stuck on top of another item, I hurriedly ran outside and brought in 2 straight sticks of different lengths to dislodge the trapped glasses. After some struggles, they finally fell through, not alone, but accompanied by a long forgotten book! Later, I reflected on this experience and wondered, “of all the spaces behind the radiator, how come the pair of glasses literally fell on top of the book?”   You see, if my pair of glasses had fallen through easily from behind the radiator, my attention would not have been drawn to the other important item. This experience further consolidated my
understanding that God CAN, and WILL use anything to draw our attention and redirect our steps!

With this reflection, I am here to encourage you that God has the ability to carve out the best outcomes for you in every circumstance. He desires the best for you! Therefore, that failed driving test, may be God averting an early accident.

That unsuccessful interview, may have been God saying ‘No’ to a bad boss or ‘No’ to a bad organisation.

That subject that you failed which led to not being able to get into university may be God saying “This year will not be a favourable one, why not go for a gap year to develop more skills."

That relationship that couldn’t lead to a marriage, may have been God saying “Let GO, I am preparing you the the most suitable wife or husband.”

So, let’s stop weeping, let’s stop complaining, let’s stop regretting, BUT let’s start saying “IT IS WORKING FOR MY GOOD!”

Prayer

Thank you Lord for your love, goodness and kindness towards us at all times.  Thank you for always working behind the scene even when we don’t feel it.

Challenge

Why not grab a piece of paper and a pen and make a list of all your disappointments turned Blessings!
